Cumberland Hospital for Children & Adolescents

Cumberland Hospital for Children in New Kent, Va., is one of the few facilities nationwide that treats both mind and body simultaneously, offering specialized care for young people with disabilities, injuries, lifelong illness or other medical conditions. By integrating medical rehabilitative and behavioral care, its staff is able to stabilize and treat medical conditions while addressing behavior management problems, helping families cope with their child's illnesses or injuries and reducing the likelihood of repeated hospitalizations. Its 84-bed, campus-style hospital is located on 200 acres of wooded land between Richmond and Williamsburg, Va. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities accredit it. The American Diabetes Association recognizes its diabetes program.
