CornerPost Software is an information management company that provides solutions to inappropriate online content. It was co-founded by Paul Elswick and Alan Hughes in 1996 as Educational Technology. The initial concepts came from Elswick's experience as a volunteer who began writing grants to obtain Internet access for schools. The district needed to develop a tracking system, so Hughes developed a library management software system. This marked the inception of Educational Technology's first product, BookMARC, one of the first K-12 library management software systems to function over a wide area network. The founders then developed Chaperon, a program that sends administrators, teachers or parents near-real-time notifications when inappropriate material is searched for, or accessed on the Internet. In 2000, the company became CornerPost Software, and broadened its market to include software applications for businesses. Other software it offers includes Chaperon@Home, Chaperon for ISA Server, Surrogate Socket and TotalTrac. CornerPost Software is headquartered in Duffield, Va.
