Thurgood Marshall Elementary School

Thurgood Marshall Elementary is a fully accredited learning center that enrolls students in kindergarten through grade five. Established in 1996, the school provides reading recovery, special education, and occupational and speech therapy programs. It supports a variety of extracurricular activities, such as art, music and physical education. Thurgood Marshall Elementary s staff includes nurses, guidance counselors, resource aides and literacy facilitators. Its library and media center features a collection of more than 14,000 fiction and nonfiction books, newspapers and magazines. Located in Chesapeake, Va., the school additionally operates a parent-teacher association. Thurgood Marshall Elementary is governed by Chesapeake Public Schools, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools.
