Established in 1993, the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center is a National Cancer Institute designated cancer center that offers cancer research, diagnosis, treatment and support services. Located in Nashville, Tenn., its services include blood and marrow transplantation, brain tumor center , gastrointestinal oncology, hematology, gynecologic oncology, pediatric cancer program, cancer information program, and pain and symptom management. Additionally, the center offers multidisciplinary breast care program that includes cancer screening and breast self-examination instruction, evaluation and treatment of benign breast conditions, and cancer care and support. Its family cancer risk service is an educational consultation program operated by an advance practice nurse in genetics in consultation with other medical specialists. The Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center offers more than 200 clinical trial programs that patients can access. The center also offers volunteer programs that include providing information to cancer patients, offering support, escorting patients, and providing items listed on the patient and family support services wish list.
