The North Charleston City Hall houses the administrative office of the North Charleston City Council. It is located in North Charleston, S.C., and is the authority drafting rules and passing ordinances on security, general welfare and municipality. It is also responsible for the preservation of health, peace, order and good governance. It performs a variety of other duties that include exercising the corporate powers of the council, enacting legislations, drafting the official city policies, holding of public hearings on matters concerning zoning and granting of funds, approving franchises, collecting business license fees, levying taxes and adopting an annual budget. It comprises various departments, such as building inspections, code enforcement, executive, economic development, finance, fire, municipal court, personnel, planning and management, police, purchasing, recreation, cultural arts and public works. The North Charleston City Hall also organizes regular elections every four years.
