Communities For People Inc

Communities For People, based in Providence, R.I., was founded in 1976 as a private, nonprofit agency chartered to serve youth and families in need of support. The agency started by providing residential services to adolescents with developmental problems in community-based staffed apartments throughout Massachusetts, followed by Rhode Island. It was one of one of the first agencies to provide adolescents with home-like settings within communities instead of isolated institutional care. In addition to its staffed residential sites, Communities For People also provides foster care, adoption, outreach, independent living and managed care services to thousands of children, families and adolescents in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. It also maintains its commitment to research and the development of program and treatment data systems to evaluate the quality and impact of child welfare services.
