Town of Pitcairn

The Town of Pitcairn was the 25th town erected by an act of the Legislature which was passed on March 24, 1836. The Town of Pitcairn borders on Lewis county, and lies in the rear of Fowler and Edwards and joins the Town of Fine in the southwest part of St. Lawrence County. The township was assigned to Daniel McCormick and tranferred by him to Joseph Pitcairn, from whom it received its name. The 2000 population was 783. The Town is located in the 24th congressional District, 47th State Senate District, and 6th Legislative District. A small part of Pitcairn in in the Adirondack Park. Building permits are required, the applications can be obtained at the Town Clerk's office.
