For more than 40 years, Telesat has been a privately held and is the fourth largest fixed satellite services operator. The company provides carrier, consumer high-speed internet, repair, technical consultancy and enterprise service solutions, serving the broadcast, telecom, corporate and government sectors. Telesat has a global state-of-the-art fleet of 12 satellites and it operates 13 other satellites for third parties. Aviation Week & Space Technology awarded Laurels Award to Telesat's GLACS Implementation Team in 1994. Canada's Public Sector Pension Investment Board and Loral Space & Communications Inc. are its primary shareholders.
