The Washoe County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement and crime prevention services. The department operates civil, detectives, patrol and records divisions. Its records division processes and manages criminal records, clearance reports, and search and arrest warrants. It conducts investigations, gathers evidence, arrests offenders, and interviews suspects, victims and witnesses. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office intervenes in cases of theft, burglary, homicide, sex crime, domestic violence and child abuse. The department operates a detention facility that houses more than 1,000 inmates. It also has bicycle patrol, bomb squad, K-9 and regional gang units. It offers neighborhood watch and Drug Abuse Resistance Education programs. In addition, the department organizes several safety-related training events for the general public. The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is headquartered in Reno, Nev.
