Taneyville School

Taneyville Elementary School, Taneyville, Mo., in the R-II school district, has classes up to grade K-8 and has more than 200 enrolled students. Its students have consistently scored above the state average in the Missouri Assessment Program for major courses such as reading, communication arts and math. More than 70 percent of students come from an economically disadvantaged background and the better academic performance of the students is therefore commendable. The school has one teacher for every 11 students which may account for the better academic performance as a result of more individualized attention.
