AIDS Project Worcester, founded in 1987, is one the largest AIDS service organizations in New England providing services to people suffering from HIV and AIDS. It offers respite care, detoxification and substance abuse treatment programs and community-based programs. Its services include HIV counseling and testing, transportation services, assistance with food and housing and legal assistance. Its prevention and education programs focus on communities and individuals at risk for HIV and its educational services offer health promotion fairs and a speakers bureau that is a platform for people to share their views. It offers specialized services to children and youth and engages them in various activities, such as music, dance and camps and career counseling. It has offices located in Worcester, Southbridge and Leominster, Mass., and provides its services throughout the central part of the state.
