Parks and Beaches Department is one of the departments of the Town of Orleans in Massachusetts, and provides services for the operation and maintenance of the town s building and grounds. The department is responsible for the maintenance of the town s public parks and beaches, conservation areas, town offices, the community building, and tennis courts and playgrounds. It is also responsible for the maintenance of police and fire, departments, town library, information booth and elementary schools. Additionally, it provides public safety and conservation programs for its beaches. It also manages various recreational and sporting activities organized at its beaches, including concerts, fairs, craft shows, swimming, bike riding, dining, and hiring and training of lifeguards. The department organizes picnics for children and families, and manages law and order on its beaches. It additionally provides protection of shorebirds and administers an off-road vehicle program. It also provides information on federal, state and town laws and regulations concerning health and safety. Parks and Beaches Department is located in Orleans, Mass., and assists in collection of parking and off-road vehicle fees.
