Whether you are interested in taking instrumental or vocal lessons, purchasing music or simply have a question, the expert staff at The Music Place will be able to help. Owner John Bermani opened the store more than three decades ago after years of playing in bands. In the 1970s, I played the guitar in show bands six nights a week for a contract of up to 10 weeks at a time, and in the 1980s I played in a function band at weddings and special events,"Bermani said. After his band broke up, it was time to settle down, he said. The former Digital computer technician and his school-teacher friend opened The Music Place in 1981 in order to play more."It didn't work out that way. We worked more than we played,"Bermani said. His partner left in 1990 to pursue other opportunities.Today, The Music Place has thrived into a popular destination for music lovers of all types. Lessons cover bass, drums, piano, trumpet, French horn, clarinet, flute, and an array of string instruments. We are also a full-line store that sells instruments, music and even pre-owned instruments for a good price, said Bermani. He is also introducing traditional Irish Music lessons using the guitar, tenor banjo, and mandolin. Bermani speaks highly of his instructors, who were educated at the Berkley College of Music, UMASS Lowell, and both the Boston and New England Conservatory. Our teachers are sincere, dedicated and draw the best out of their students, Bermani said. When asked what keeps the store going, Bermani said that lessons are essential, but attributed the true success of the store to his employees. Our employees treat customers like family. We get to know the customers and help them as if they were friends, said Bermani. You can find The Music Place on 41 Main Street.
