Division Of Solid Waste

The Division of Waste Management, formerly known as the Division of Solid Waste, provides curbside garbage collection services for approximately 80,000 households and businesses in Fayette County in Kentucky. It offers yard and recycling waste collection services. The division also collects bulky items. The Division of Waste Management is a part of the Department of Environmental Quality, which was established in 2007. The department provides solid waste collection, disposal, recycling and sanitary sewer services. The Department of Environmental Quality also offers stormwater management services. It operates the Division of Water Quality, which maintains sanitary sewerage system that includes more than 70 pump stations and several sewage treatment plants. The department is governed by the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government in Kentucky.
