Headquartered in Lenexa, Kan., the Water District No.1 of Johnson County is a municipal agency that provides water to more than 400,000 individuals. The district maintains over 3,000 miles of transmission and distribution water mains. It covers an area of nearly 270 square miles. The district has a treatment capacity of approximately 180 million gallons per day. Water District No.1 of Johnson County also offers system development and fire protection services. The district installs and upgrades water mains for new development projects. In addition, the district operates a demand management program that focuses on water conservation. It provides in-ground sprinkler evaluation services. Water District No.1 of Johnson County maintains a staff of engineers, water treatment plant operators, laboratory personnel, accountants, and information technology and financial professionals.
