The Vernon Hills Police Department, also known as VHPD, works toward providing safety and security services. It provides homeland security advisory systems, as well as online traffic and parking information. The department offers the Drug Abuse Resistance Education and Citizen Speed Control programs. The Vernon Hills Police Department has operations and support services divisions. Its divisions address community problems through directed and routine patrol systems and focus on the areas of communication, accreditation and social services. The department also operates K-9, traffic and crime prevention units. The Vernon Hills Police Department has a staff of more than 20 individuals. It is accredited with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. The Vernon Hills Police Department is part of Vernon Hills Village Hall in Illinois, which operates finance, community development, engineering and public works departments.
