Peace River Regional Medical Center, founded in 1962 and located in Port Charlotte, Fla., offers a range of health care services to patients and families. The hospital has 220 licensed general acute care beds and a staff of over 1,000 employees, including more than 270 physicians representing over 50 specialties. It operates an emergency care and home health center, and offers obstetric and pediatric units. Additionally, it operates a women's connection resource center and primary stroke care services. The hospital also offers rehabilitation services. Its therapists work together with case managers, social workers, acute care nursing staff and family members to evaluate a patient s condition and determine the levels of rehabilitation care. The institution s staff is supported by a corps of more than 250 volunteers who help in a wide range of community health education and outreach programs.
