Uhuru Furniture And Collectibles

Uhuru Furniture is a 501c(3) project of the African People's Education & Defense Fund (APEDF) a Black community-led organization which is open to people of all nationalities to participate in. The APEDF strives to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community, and to address the grave disparities in education, health, healthcare, and economic development faced by the African community. APEDF funds an Uhuru (Freedom) House Community Center in West Philadelphia (52nd & Larchwood) to organize around the issues their community is confronted with. There are also Uhuru Houses in Oakland, California and St. Petersburg, Florida. Also in Florida there is a community gym with free aerobics classes, monthly wellness seminars and the Uhuru youth basketball team. We hope to one day have such programs here in Philadelphia. APEDF alslo sponsors tutoring programs, Spanish classes, and campaigns for economic development.
