Job Corps is one of the oldest and largest federally-funded job training and education programs for economically disadvantaged youths between the ages of 16 and 24. Established in 1964, the program has trained and educated more than 2 million individuals. It serves over 60,000 teenagers annually. Job Corps operates through more than 100 centers located throughout the United States, District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In addition, the program manages outreach, admissions and career transition operations. It provides recruitment, education, career training, job assistance and transitional support services to graduate students. Job Corps offers career training in approximately 100 occupational areas, including health occupation, culinary arts, construction-related fields, and business and technology-related industries. The program is administered by the U.S. Department of Labor.
