Society-Dance History Scholars

Society of Dance History Scholars Inc., organized in 1978 and incorporated in 1983, focuses on advancing various dance forms. It conducts dance studies through research, publication, performance and outreach to audiences across the arts, humanities and social sciences. Based in Birmingham, Ala., the organization s members include independent scholars, dance/arts teachers, performers, arts administrators, dance critics, filmmakers, reconstructors, librarians and archivists. Its annual conferences feature paper presentations, panel discussions, movement workshops and performances. Society of Dance History Scholars Inc. is a constituent member of the American Council of Learned Societies.
